7 segment display for Erbert frame

SPI wireing

Connect the displays like this:

The 5V power supply (V_cc=+5V/GND=Ground) and the load and clock lines from the processor are connected parallelly to all boards. Data is wired as a chain.

Obsolete design

This fits in just one Erbert frame, but the 7 segment displays do not work reliable, single segments die one after the other. If anybody knows of any display on the marked that is not wider than 6mm, please tell me!!! The displays that are used here were purchased via eBay from a seller that could not supply any manufacturer or part number information.
